  • Glenwood Canyon
    Case Study
In 2021, mudslides tore through Glenwood Canyon, Colorado.

Historically, Glenwood Canyon had no cell service or network. Years of hard work had gone into this network, deftly balancing the increased technological need and the preservation of the natural space. Mountain Wireless supported these efforts with the installation of a Distributed Antennae System (LTE) network, but it was not yet live when the massive mudslides hit.

Quick action and experience mobilized a cross-section of teams.

In partnership with incredible teams, including the Glenwood Police Department, Mountain Wireless was able to enter the barricaded Glenwood Canyon and, through satellite uplinks, ensure the first line workers clearing the damage had operational connectivity. This network now supports both public safety and carrier networks. Mountain Wireless is proud to be part of the group effort in creating a smoother and safe road forward in reopening Glenwood Canyon.
